SLI Team

The Project Manager will be Patrick, (patrick@ingrahamrocketry.org). Patrick is entering his third year as a participant of the Ingraham Rocketry program. He has gone to the TARC Finals two times, and as Project Manager led his team to a seventh place finish last year. He has participated in the Washington Aerospace Scholars program and is a NAR member with a Junior High Power Level 1 certification. He has served on the technology crew at Ingraham for three years, serves as the Senior Patrol Leader of his scout troop and is currently a Life scout. Patrick enjoys hiking, and has recently taken up French classical fencing, an activity he intends to continue throughout his life.

The positions of Web Master and Payload Coordinator will be assigned to Nat. Nat is in his third year as part of the Ingraham Rocketry program, and has been named President of the club this year. He was the project manager of the 24th placing Team America Rocketry Challenge team last year and is continuing to lead the team this year. He is a NAR member with Junior High Power Level 1 Certification, and participated in the Washington Aerospace Scholars program, including a one week summer residency. He has held a summer job at the University of Washington relating to web design and web application development. He has done Tae Kwon Do for over six years and holds a first degree black belt. He also has played Ultimate Frisbee for a year and plans to continue this year.

The Design Lead will be Jane, a senior and returning member to the rocket club. She has designed several rockets using RockSim software, including her 2009 TARC team's competition rocket and her own vehicle that she will soon use for her NAR Level 1 and 2 High Power Certification. During her junior year, she participated in the Washington Aerospace Scholars program, earning a one week summer residency at the program's conclusion. She has volunteered at the Seattle Children's Hospital for about a year, entertaining the children and assisting in the Child Life Playroom.

The Finance Lead will be Emily (Emmy). She is a returning senior and is this year's IASA Treasurer. She has volunteered at the Seattle Aquarium for one year and at Harborview Medical Center last summer. She has been doing ballet and modern dance for many years and has been a member of a dance company since she was in 8th grade.

The Propulsion Lead and Student Safety Officer will be Yelizaveta (Liza). Liza is a returning senior who currently holds NAR Level 1 High Power certification and anticipates completing her Level 2 certification flight at the regularly scheduled Washington Aerospace Club launch in late October. During her junior year she participated in the Washington Aerospace Scholars program, earning a one week summer residency at the program's conclusion. This summer, she attended the University of California at Berkeley as part of the Academic Student Association program. Liza is also the president of her synagogue's youth group and she works as a middle school Hebrew teacher twice a week.

The Recovery Systems Lead will be Kirsten. Kirsten has participated in the IASA since September 2008, and was a member of the team that placed 7th at the TARC Finals in 2009. She has experience with recovery systems, having hand-sewed the parachute for the rocket her team flew at the finals. This year, she will be Project Manager for Ingraham's TARC Team "Charlie". Kirsten has been a member of Girl Scouts for the past 11 years, receiving the Girl Scout Silver Award in June 2009. She serves as a coach in the Team Read program, tutoring and mentoring elementary school students in reading, comprehension and vocabulary. She has also served as a volunteer at Washington Talking Book and Braille Library. Her interests include fencing and clarinet, which she plays in the school marching and concert bands.

Our Public Relations Coordinator will be Teri. Teri is a sophomore and returning member of last year's seventh place TARC team. Teri also participates on the Varsity Cheer Squad, is an officer in the school's Future Career and Consumer Leaders of America (FCCLA) club, and serves as the Secretary of the school's Student Council.

Other members of the team not assigned specific leadership roles are:

Joel is a senior and was the designer for last year's TARC team that finished seventh at the Finals. Joel is a licensed amateur radio operator. He has experience with constructing and repairing computers and other high-tech appliances, including designing and custom-building computer systems for personal use. He constructed a Tesla coil for the school science fair last year, fabricating all the necessary parts himself. He has assembled and maintained mobility and communication equipment for his father, who suffers from ALS. Joel is a skilled illustrator and artist, able to work in physical and digital media. He has been involved in the Boy Scouts for many years as a Troop Guide helping new scouts, and plans to become an Assistant Scoutmaster after his birthday this year.

Nick is a junior and was a member of last year's seventh place finishing TARC team. He is a full diploma candidate in the school's International Baccalaureate Program, and is applying to participate in the Washington Aerospace Scholars program. Nick is an active Boy Scout working on his Eagle Scout rank. He is a trained whitewater guide, and has worked at a Scout camp for the last two summers. He is a saxophonist in the school's marching, concert and jazz bands.

Kelsey is a junior who joined the Ingraham rocketry program in 2008. She was a member of last year's 24th place team at the TARC finals, and this year will be serving as the Project Manager for our TARC Team "Delta". Currently, she is taking some classes on campus and some college classes at North Seattle Community College through the Running Start Program. During the summer of 2009 she travelled to the Dominican Republic to perform volunteer service.

Percerverence (Percy) is a junior and was a member of last year's 24th place TARC team. She is a percussionist in the school marching and concert bands and is a member of the school's award winning drumline. She likes to spend her time writing and reading poetry.
