Our Critical Design Review (PDF) is now available, along with our CDR FLysheet (Microsoft Excel) and CDR Presentation (Microsoft Powerpoint). On February 1, 2010, we completed ground testing of ejection charges, and have added an addendum (PDF) to reflect this.
For our CDR, we were required to construct and fly a subscale model of our rocket. It was flown successfully, with only one small issue: during the flight, the ejection charges were positioned poorly within the body tubes so that when they were fired, the ejection canisters blew a small hole sideways through the thin cardboard of the body tube wall. This will not be a problem with the full-scale rocket as we will be using more appropriately directed charge containers, and the BlueTube airframe material will more easily be able to contain any ejection blast.
